Frequently Asked Questions!

Q. Do I have to put anything on my GPS - How is the visor held on ?

A. Yes, our visors come with a strip of 'sticky' velcro that must be placed on the unit. The adhesive is 'high temperature' so it will stay put in a warm vehicle. We DO UNDERSTAND how repulsive this can sound when you first take your brand new shinny GPS unit out of the box. If it helps any, our velcro is also designated as 'medium tack', which means it can be removed without leaving glue on your unit. We don't think you'll be removing our visor once you try it.

Q. Do you really promise to refund my money if I don't like your sun shade ?

A. Yes, 100% money back guarantee! This has been our policy since the beginning. Try one for yourself and if you want to return it (within a reasonable time) we'll refund your entire purchase price without any hassles. You don't even have to provide a reason if you don't want to, but we like to be aware of any improvements we can make. We DO listen to our customers!

Q. Will the visor block the speakers on my Garmin C340 ?

A. No, our visor mounts along the very front edge of the unit and does not cover the speakers or interfere with antennas.

Q. My GPS has the power button on top near the front, won't your visor cover it ?

A. In some cases it might, but it's still not a problem. If you simply place the Velcro on either side of the switch, you can actually 'push' the button by pressing on the visor where is passes over the switch. Remember, our sun shades are flexible.

Q. The visor you recommended is way too small for my Magellan 760. It doesn't go all the way across unit, do I have the right visor ?

A. This question is quite common, and the answer is... it's NOT designed to cover the whole unit! Please read the instructions carefully and view the photos here. On these units, the right side of the visor is between the display and the keypad area. We did this on purpose to allow access to the control buttons. A Velcro tab anchors the right side panel to the BOTTOM of the unit.

Q. Will this work on a motorcycle?  I'm afraid it will blow off.

A. We recommend your bike have a windscreen of some type but even so, it won't blow off. Unprotected from direct wind blast the visor may 'flutter' badly causing a major distraction to the rider, but it shouldn't blow off. Again, we DON'T recommend using it without a windscreen!

Q. What are Glare-Stomper visors made of ?

A. We're glad you asked (we like this question).

Our visors are a multi-layer design; heavy duty nylon is first bonded to a waterproof backing, this is then heat laminated to a 1/8 in. open cell foam sheet that's backed with a non-reflective black liner. The process results in a material that's flexible... yet stout enough maintain it's shape. Two-ton pneumatic presses cut each visor using custom made precision steel die. Our distinctive 'boot' trademark is then silk-screened and heat cured, after which experienced seamstresses stitch and inspect each visor individually. Our visors are 100% made in USA by American workers. Nothing is sent 'off-shore'. Yes, this costs more. Yes, we prefer it this way!

Q. I ordered my visor over two weeks ago. Where is it, did you send it ?

A. 99% of the time, we post within 24 hours of receiving your order. We've used the Royal Mail Postal Service to ship our visors for years as this is the most cost effective method for such a small, lightweight product. Lately, for unknown reasons, SOME shipments have been taking a very long time to arrive (as much as 19 days). Even worse, SOME shipments do not arrive at all. Neither we nor the postal service can explain this. Unfortunately, we are at their mercy. Please allow a full 15 business days, then contact us for resolution. We invite you to 'yell' at local postal authorities as well.

Q. I've been taking my visor off my GPS for storage and now the sticky Velcro is coming loose, suggestions ?

A. First of all, our visors are designed to fold up so you don't need to take them off. But if you find you must remove it frequently for some reason, try to do it gently so as not to lift the sticky Velcro strip. You may have to replace the Velcro with 'regular' Velcro found in most stores. Regular Velcro is much more sticky but will not adhere as well in warm temperatures and the adhesive will melt if it get very warm.

Another technique others have used is to remove some of the little 'hooks' (on the visor side) of the Velcro visor does not grip so tightly. Fingernail clippers work well for this.

If you need additional Velcro of the type we supply, just drop us an email and we'll be glad to supply more to you at no charge! Be sure to include your address.

Q. Is your sun shade 'one size fits all', I thought they were custom fit ?

A. Our visors are certainly not 'one size fits all' or we wouldn't make more than one size. Nor are they 'custom fit' for every make and model of GPS on the market. Our visors are versatile in that they have no specific shape 'built in'. The visor will fold (or bend) wherever the corners of the unit dictates. Because of this, our visor models will fit units of similar size. If you buy another GPS unit that's about the same size, you can simply use the same Glare-Stomper visor on that unit. If you need additional Velcro just let us know, we'll be happy to supply it!

Q. What are the tabs on top of the visor supposed to do ?

A. Actually, they serve two purposes! One is to hold the visor in the folded (storage) position. The other is to HOLD THE VISOR OPEN. When stored for extended periods, the visor may need some help to open again. The tabs can be used to create a 'pull' on the sides of the visor (holding them open) until the creases in the material release in a short time.

Q. I bought a newer GPS and want to use my visor with the new one, can you send me some more Velcro ?

A. If you need additional Velcro (for any reason) just let us know, we have it available. Drop us an email and we'll be glad to supply more to you at no charge! Be sure to include your address.

Q. I've E-mailed you several times with questions but you don't answer, don't you read your mail ?

A. We ALWAYS answer our mail (usually within a few hours). If you're not getting our replies, check your spam or junk mail folders! You can add us to your authorized list with confidence - we NEVER send unsolicited e-mail and we DON'T share addresses with anyone.

Q. I want to remove the Velcro from my unit. What's the best way to do that ?

A. Simply peel the Velcro from the unit.  If any adhesive remains, it can be removed with citrus based cleaner.
